How We Built Bodega Las Vegas a Full Marketing Department for Less Than One Employee

A Las Vegas smoke shop and deli now runs TikTok, Instagram, Google, and email — generated by AI — for a fraction of what a junior hire costs. Here's exactly how we did it.

Bodega Food & Smoke Shop opened on Ann Road in North Las Vegas selling wagyu cheesesteaks, ZYN, glass, and good vibes. It's a real four-wall retail business — POS systems, wholesale relationships, Tuesday-afternoon emergencies. Deep Patel owns it and runs Hephaestus AI at the same time. He didn't have budget for a marketing team. So he built one out of AI.

The Problem Every Local Shop Owner Has

Bodega needed consistent content across TikTok, Instagram, Google Business, and email. It needed to stay compliant — TikTok bans smoke shop content, so every post has to pass a filter before it goes up. It needed to sound like a real Las Vegas shop, not a marketing agency. And it needed to run without anyone spending three hours a day on it.

The typical solution: hire a social media manager ($2,500–$4,000/month) or pay an agency ($3,000–$6,000/month). Most small shops can't afford either. And even when they can, the content is generic — the agency doesn't know what a deli on Ann Road feels like at 11am.

What We Actually Built

Hephaestus AI built Bodega a full content pipeline — what we call a marketing department in a box. It runs on Claude API with a wiki-loaded system prompt that knows the store's voice, menu, neighborhood, and compliance rules. Here's what it produces every week:

Every piece of content passes through a compliance gate before it leaves the system. TikTok's community guidelines ban smoke shop product promotion — the pipeline checks for that automatically and rewrites or flags. No manual review required.

The Compliance Gate — Why It Matters

This is the part most AI content tools skip. They generate content. They don't check whether it'll get your account banned. Bodega is a smoke shop. Smoke shop content on TikTok gets flagged aggressively. So we built a gate that evaluates every TikTok-destined script against TikTok's community guidelines before it generates. If it mentions glass pipes, ZYN, or anything platform-restricted, the gate catches it and produces a food-only version instead. The Instagram pipeline has no such restriction — IG allows smoke shop content.

What It Costs vs. What It Replaces

The Bodega pipeline runs entirely on Claude API calls processed locally — no SaaS subscription, no agency retainer. The build cost was a one-time project fee. Ongoing cost is Claude API tokens, which for this volume runs under $50/month. Compare that to the $2,500–$6,000/month alternatives. The pipeline replaces: social media manager, content writer, compliance reviewer, and scheduling coordinator.

Deep built three brands while running a smoke shop on Ann Road. When he says a $500 site will outperform your Squarespace — that's not theory. That's Tuesday.

What Local Las Vegas Shops Can Take From This

You don't need to be a tech company to run AI marketing. You need a system built for your specific shop — one that knows your voice, your products, your platform rules, and your neighborhood. Generic AI tools produce generic content. A purpose-built pipeline produces content that sounds like you.

If you're a Las Vegas operator — salon, deli, smoke shop, nail bar, auto shop, dispensary — this is buildable for you. Same approach, tuned to your business. Starting at $500, delivered the same week.
